Zimbabwe Community & Wildlife Safari

per person

Overview

This 10-day luxury community and wildlife safari takes you into the heart of Africa, where you’ll spend your days immersed in local African culture, learning about what’s being done to empower the continent’s people, and enjoying big game watching.

Your safari adventure begins with a stay at a beautiful eco-conscious resort in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park, upstream from Victoria Falls, the world’s largest curtain of flowing water. Thorntree River Lodge, one of Zambia’s most modern lodges, will introduce you to the behind-the-scenes community development work that makes vacation worthwhile.

Then head to Zimbabwe’s largest reserve, Hwange National Park, a vast region teeming with elephants and buffalo. Because Somalisa Camp is located within a private concession, you will be able to experience walking safaris, night drives, and game watching from concealed hides. You will also tour local villages and be inspired by the people’ business enthusiasm and creative spirit.

The final stop on your community and wildlife tour will be at Lake Kariba’s magnificent Bumi Hills Safari Lodge. The resort is situated into the isolated hills that encircle the lake, and you may spend your final days soaking in the sun alongside Bumi’s famed infinity-edge swimming pool or on a boat trip watching the sun set.

What Is the Purpose of This Trip?

African Bush Camps is one of just a few enterprises that created its Foundation on the first day of operation. Every single bed night purchased benefits these organisations. They also make significantly more behind-the-scenes contributions to communities, animals, and conservation. A fantastic opportunity to meet people on the ground who profit from tourism.

Visit Maunga Village and its clinic and school.

In Hwange National Park, a whole day is dedicated to seeing community projects like as local elementary schools and sewing clubs run by women who repurpose discarded objects into something lovely.

Day 1-4: Arrive in Victoria Falls (Zambia) | 3 Nights

ZAMBIA Victoria Falls, located on Zambia's southern border, is a breathtaking site of awe-inspiring majesty and the starting point for your community and wildlife tour. Thorntree River Lodge is located in Zambia's Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the Falls. The lodge was created with an eye towards the ecology, leaving a minimal impact on the pure natural surroundings surrounding it. You will explore Maunga Village, an amazing community upliftment initiative, while staying at Thorntree River Lodge. Many Zambian rural areas face difficulties in gaining access to high-quality, low-cost healthcare facilities and services. Maunga Clinic and Maunga Primary School are receiving visible improvements that emphasise the importance of travel expenses. Not only will you be steeped in local culture, but you will also be an active contributor to great educational possibilities for local schoolchildren. When you aren't seeing the raw might of one of the World's most renowned sights, your days will be spent connecting with the local population, following rhinos on bush hikes, enjoying sunset boat cruises, and visiting the vibrant Maramba & Markuni markets. Wildlife viewing and community visits complement the true African experience at Thorntree River Lodge.

Day 4-7: Southern Hwange National Park | 3 Nights

HWANGE NATIONAL PARK, ZIMBABWE You will be flown to Somalisa Camp for the following three nights after breakfast. Hwange National Park, located in western Zimbabwe, is the country's largest natural reserve and is known for its diverse wildlife. It also has one of the world's largest elephant populations. You may expect guided bush hikes, wildlife drives, and even horseback safaris, all of which provide excellent picture possibilities. This tiny bush camp showcases genuine Africa, where luxury accommodations and wildlife coexist. A great feature of this lovely safari camp is an elephant pool at the edge of its huge deck in the main area, which is visited by elephant families. When you're not on safari, you'll be volunteering at community initiatives ranging from local primary schools to sewing groups run by local women, repurposing objects that would otherwise be discarded into something lovely. You will have a full day to interact with the local community and learn about all of the work that is being done behind the scenes to elevate and empower the people of Africa.

Day 7-10: Lake Kariba | 3 Nights

MATUSADONA NATIONAL PARK, LAKE KARIBA, ZIMBABWE Following an early breakfast, you will be taken to Lake Kariba, the world's largest man-made lake. It spans for more than 200 kilometres (124 miles) between Zimbabwe's and Zambia's borders, establishing a spectacular natural border between the two nations. Crocs, hippos, fish, and aquatic birds may be found in the lake's waters, and the coastline is home to elephants and buffalo. You'll spend the following three nights at Bumi Hills Safari Lodge, a lovely resort set on a series of secluded hills with an elevated perspective of Lake Kariba. The lodge's main attraction is an infinity pool where you may cool yourself and sip wine on multiple levels of eating patios. Morning, midday, and evening wildlife drives, walking safaris, boating, fishing, village visits, and sunset cruises will fill your days. You will be charter ed to Victoria Falls International Airport for your onward travel arrangements after a stunning safari and learning about community upliftment efforts.
