Overview

Victoria Falls is a great place to kick off a 10-day trip through Africa. The friendly staff at Tongabezi Lodge is committed to making your stay both comfortable and entertaining. To get to your next stop, Shawa Luangwa Camp in South Luangwa National Park, you’ll take a short, but beautiful, flight. When it comes to walking safaris, everyone knows to head to South Luangwa, a region famed for its pristine terrain, expert guides, and low visitor numbers.

The third and last destination is somewhere completely one of a kind. The stunning Likoma Island on Lake Malawi, often known as the “Lake of Stars,” is home to a wealth of historical sites, cultural landmarks, and breathtaking landscapes. Kaya Mawa, with its tree-lined shoreline, clear, pure seas, and powder-soft beaches, will serve as your base of operations for the duration of your journey. Experience the revitalising effects of Africa’s sunrises and sunsets while partaking in a wide range of land and water-based activities.

Each location on this tour is a perfect complement to the next, with convenient transportation, interesting sights, and comfortable lodgings. Everyone who cares about how much they spend on vacation will like this trip, from newlyweds to families.

Why is this a trip with a purpose?

All of the featured lodges and campers are run in a way that gives back to the local community and minimises their environmental impact. There is a net beneficial effect on the local environment, animals, and communities when guests stay at any of the lodges.

Stop by Tujatane (formerly Tongabezi Trust School) and help feed and educate children in need. This amazing project is only possible thanks to the kind donations of many.

The Mukuni Community Farm is a great place to learn about sustainable agricultural practises in the Victoria Falls area.

Learn about the culture and way of life of the people of Simonga Village by exchanging tales and talking to them.

Day 1-3: Tongabezi Lodge, Livingstone, Victoria Falls | 3 Nights

ZAMBIA, VICTORIA FALLS The picturesque Tongabezi Lodge is a short drive from Livingstone International Airport, so be sure to meet your driver there. Tongabezi is the ideal home base for exploring the magnificent Victoria Falls and the surrounding areas of the Zambezi River. Victoria Falls is sometimes called the "Adventure Capital of Africa" and with good reason: the area is packed with exciting things to do. If white water rafting, bridge swinging, or bungee jumping seem a little too extreme for you, don't worry; there's still plenty to do. Take a magnificent helicopter trip to get a bird's-eye perspective of the Falls, go on a wildlife drive, or explore the area on foot. Take a relaxing boat ride down the river, go fishing (with the option of releasing your catch), or browse a local market for handcrafted souvenirs. There are plenty of things to do, but don't forget to take some time to relax at the award-winning Tongabezi Lodge. Take a dip in the plunge pool, chill out on the observation deck, and plan an island picnic—all while gazing out at the mighty Zambezi River.

Day 4-6: Shawa Luangwa Camp, South Luangwa National Park, Zambia | 3 Nights

SOUTH AFRICA'S WHALE COAST A driver will take you back to Livingstone International Airport, where you will catch a flight to South Luangwa National Park for your safari. Arrive at Mfuwe Airport and meet your guide for a road trip to Shawa Luangwa Camp, where a really genuine safari awaits. Set on the tree-lined banks of the Luangwa River and strategically located in South Luangwa's game-rich Nsefu area, game watching is outstanding. Guests can choose to go on foot, in a game viewer vehicle, or by boat, with each offering a distinct viewpoint on the native species and their ecosystem. From game drive to lodge, there is a profusion of animals enjoying the cold river waters in front of camp, as well as a diversity of birds nesting on the riverbanks. At Shawa Luangwa, luxury meets authenticity. The tents are comfy and surrounded by nature, fitting in nicely with the surroundings and leaving a feather-light footprint. After an intense day visiting this great place, the extra romantic touch of an outdoor shower and bathtub with a view delivers ultimate relaxation.
