Days 1-2: Welcome to Tanzania | 2 Nights

On your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be road transferred to Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge. The lodge is set in lush gardens amid forest and crystal-clear waterways on the slopes of Mount Meru. It is one of Arusha's oldest family lodges, having been adapted from an early colonial farmhouse - established in the beginning of the twentieth century. After your first evening of settling into East Africa, your next day will be spent on a half day climb of Mount Meru - a dormant volcano with an elevation of 4,566 meters (14, 980ft), and the centrepiece of Arusha National Park. You will be immersed into stunning landscapes that include ancient fig tree forests, sulphur lakes, meandering mountain streams, and the opportunity to see many species of wildlife - including the unusually beautiful colobus monkeys.

Days 3-5: Explore Tarangire | 3 Nights

TARANGIRE, TANZANIA The second leg of your journey will take you to Tarangire National Park, with a stop in Arusha's centre market in between. Tarangire Ndovu Lodge, a tented safari lodge in this untamed setting with old baobab trees as a backdrop, will be your home for the next three nights. The first afternoon is set aside for an exciting game drive in search of safari heavyweights like as rhino, leopard, and lion. When you return to camp, your guides will provide an interpretative discussion about African star constellations. Your next two days will be spent visiting the park, beginning with an introduction to the 'Giants of Tarangire' - the baobabs and elephants - and ending with an introduction to wildlife photography from your guides. You'll also explore the Silale Swamp, a key part of the Tarangire ecosystem. Huge herds of animals flood the park in quest of this water, drawing lions, leopards, and the rare painted wolves of Africa.

The Plantation Lodge is commonly referred to as the "game lodge at the top of the world" since it is located at an elevation of 1,600 metres, just a short distance from the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will tour this region, where endangered black rhino inhabits the crater rim, gigantic tusked elephants roam the woodlands, and lions stalk the plains.
