In the late afternoon, depart from Pretoria's Capital Park Station. Experience the thrill and atmosphere of luxury rail travel as this antique steam engine pulls the train through some of Southern Africa's most historic and spectacular places. In the oak-paneled dining car, enjoy a magnificent three-course supper. Dinner attire is formal since the evening re-creates the romanticism of a bygone period. You will be going south towards the world-famous Witwatersrand gold fields.

  This morning, you'll arrive in Kimberley, a famed diamond-mining town, for a short morning trip to the Big Hole Diamond Mine. Return to the train before lunch to continue your journey to Upington via the Karoo semi-desert.

After finishing your trip with a final substantial breakfast at Kulala Desert Lodge, you will be driven back to Windhoek International Airport. You will be able to connect to your continuing travel plans from here.

Stretch your legs this morning with an optional walking tour of Upington, South Africa, a historic mission site on the Orange River. In the late morning, board the train again and go to the Namibian border. Following border procedures at Nakop, your journey continues to Holoog Siding, which is located near the famed Fish River Canyon. Spend the overnight on the train before departing the next morning for the breathtaking Fish River Canyon.

This morning, you'll go on an excursion to the stunning Fish River Canyon, the world's second-largest canyon, where you'll be able to stand on the brink and wonder at the sheer enormity of this remarkable natural structure. After that, you'll have lunch before returning to the train to complete your journey to Windhoek via Keetmanshoop. While travelling across the Kalahari Desert, you will stop at Garas Park, which has two outstanding features: the Quiver Tree Forest and the Giant's Playground.

Arrive in Windhoek and embark on a city tour of this vibrant and multicultural city with a strong German influence. After a brief tour of Namibia's capital, you will board a small aircraft for a short journey to the famed Sossusvlei sand dunes. Get up early to go on an excursion to see some of the world's tallest sand dunes in the Sossusvlei area and have breakfast. Enjoy seeing this magnificent landscape from the air as you fly back to Windhoek to join your train to Etosha National Park.

You will be taken to your lodge in time for lunch in the game-rich Etosha National Park after arriving late in the morning. After that, you'll have some time to unwind at the lodge and settle into your accommodation before heading out on a game drive.

ETOSHA, NAMIBIA You will start your day early with a game drive in Etosha before heading back to the train for lunch as you race your way to the Atlantic Ocean.

Arrive in Walvis Bay - set between the dunes of the Namib Desert and the roaring Atlantic – where your elegant rail journey comes to an end.

Enjoy a last breakfast before being transferred back to the airstrip for your flight home.
