You are immersed in the profusion of animals around you from the moment your boots hit the ground at the Samburu airstrip (after a delightful night in Nairobi). Saruni Samburu is the sole resort in Kalama Conservancy, on the boundary of Samburu National Reserve, with 200 000 acres of unspoiled wilderness for you to explore. Saruni Samburu Lodge, perched on the edge of a cliff, offers amazing views of the Northern Frontier District and Mount Kenya from its terraces and two infinity pools. The calm Wellbeing Space provides massages with a view – even from the spa, you can witness the famed Samburu elephant, leopard, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, and Grevy’s zebra gather to drink at adjacent waterholes.

From the Samburu to the Masai Mara, this is your playground for the next eight days. The immense purity of the Samburu landscape contrasts with the lush foliage of the forest around Saruni Mara resort, and each has its own attraction. Saruni Mara is located in the Mara North Conservancy, a 74 000 acre concession bordering the Mara. In the enormous calm and desolation of this secluded area of the reserve, you can encounter a large diversity of wildlife virtually unaffected by other vehicles.

Day 1: A Night in Nairobi | 1 Night

NAIROBI, KENYA Beyond the lodge's conveniences, Ololo provides exhilarating safari activities that allow visitors to get up close and personal with Kenya's famed animals. Exhilarating game drives in Nairobi National Park will take you to gorgeous lions, beautiful giraffes, and elephant herds. On guided nature walks, expert guides share their expertise of the local flora and animals and provide unique insights into the region's ecology.

Days 2 - 4: Off to Saruni Samburu | 3 Nights

SAMBURU, KENYA The following leg of your journey brings you to Saruni Samburu. During your exploration days, you will go on game drives into Samburu National Reserve in search of the unique 'Special 5' of Samburu: reticulated giraffe, Grevy's zebra, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and the unusual long-necked gerenuk, all of which are found exclusively in this region of the nation. Your guides will be Samburu warriors. They are enthusiastic about their country and culture, and will educate you about their intriguing rituals and traditions, as well as their old understanding of animals. Look for bigger wildlife, such as elephants, lions, and leopards, and pack a picnic lunch before returning to the resort for the afternoon. There are swimming pools and spas, or you might take a snooze on your terrace. Take a trek to the caverns, which have rock drawings on their walls, or to Ololokwe, the Samburu's sacred mountain. Sundowners and supper cap off a memorable day. You may go on an evening wildlife drive in Kalama Conservancy, followed by a supper under the stars and a nocturnal drive back to the resort. On your last evening, the Samburu warriors will perform a performance illuminated by primal fire and candles.

Days 5–8: Saruni Mara Exploration | 3 Nights

KENYA, MASAI MARA It's early morning, and it's time to say good-by to Samburu before your flight to Saruni Mara, nestled away in a quiet valley in Mara North Conservancy on the Masai Mara. Without missing a beat, you exit the plane and board a game-viewing vehicle, this time accompanied by a Maasai warrior who is enthusiastic about his ancestral grounds. You'll witness not just the great names, but also the tiny stories: birds' mating rituals, families of cheery warthogs, and cunning hyenas.

Day 10: Bid a Fond Farewell to Kenya

There is time for an early morning game drive in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy before returning to camp for breakfast and goodbyes. A late morning flight takes you back to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport where you arrive at lunchtime for the end of this tour.
