Overview

The original 1994 Lion King picture was inspired by several sites in Kenya, and many of the computer-generated images in the 2019 remake are based on genuine video footage shot in Kenya. This remarkable 10-day safari provides grandstand views of these stunning surroundings as well as up-close experiences with the creatures featured in the film.

This Lion King journey begins in an award-winning camp in a private game reserve that serves as a key wildlife dispersion region for animals passing through Amboseli National Park. This breathtaking protection area is home to a diverse range of species, including lions, cheetahs, giraffes, striped hyenas, and the huge elephants that Amboseli is famous for.

Then you’ll be whisked away to a remote valley in East Africa’s largest sanctuary for endangered black rhinos, as well as a sanctuary for rescued chimps. You’ll spend a few days in an exclusive eco-camp in Kenya’s Laikipia region’s Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a pristine wildlife area and one of our New Safari Bucket List’s best-kept secrets. Visit Baraka, Ol Pejeta’s black rhino ambassador, and track the Big 5 on daily game drives and nature walks with Maasai rangers.

Meru National Park, well known for another renowned lion, Elsa from Born Free fame, is your next trip. Meru was one of two locations where conservationists George and Joy Adamson reared Elsa the Lioness, and it is also where she is buried. The lovely setting of Rhino River Camp has calm views of the Kindani River, and each accommodation has its own private meditation space. With Meru National Park right on your doorstep, you’ll be able to spot the Big 5 (elephant, buffalo, rhino, lion, and leopard) within minutes of leaving camp.

Finish this incredible safari in Kenya with an award-winning tented camp in a breathtaking location. The pristine Olare Motorogi Conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara National Reserve, was established for animal protection and low-impact tourism. Spend your final days away from the crowds, experiencing private game drives and escorted bush walks with Maasai warriors.
