The Okavango Delta in Botswana is one of the best places in Africa to see wild animals, and this four-day trip will take you there. This freshwater river delta is an incredible ecosystem of marshes and woods, teeming with wildlife and providing spectacular bird viewing.

Chief’s Camp is located on Chief’s Island, the biggest in the Delta, and is where you will spend your evenings. You may go on game drives on the vast floodplains or explore the rivers in a traditional dug-out canoe (a “mokoro”) or motorboat at this traditional yet opulent safari lodge. The region is home to both conventional savannah animals and aquatic critters, so keep an eye out for predators.

After an early morning, the camp is a welcome haven, whether to unwind at the camp bar or indulge in a spa treatment by the lodge pool.

Day 1: Depart from Maun | 3 Nights

BOTSWANA; OKAVANGO DELTA; MOREMI GAME RESERVE You will take a short charter flight from Maun Airport to Chief's Camp on Chief's Island in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve. After you've unpacked, go out on your own terrace for a drink and a look around your new home.

Days 2-3: Explore the Okavango Delta

After a hearty breakfast, set out in an open-sided safari vehicle to search for big game on the first of two full days spent exploring this notoriously game-rich area. The area is home to several antelope species, including buffalo, as well as giraffes, zebras, hippos, and crocodiles. There are a lot of elephants on the island, and all the big predators are there, too. On guided bird-watching tours, you may also go along the river channels in a mokoro, a type of dug-out canoe. For a more intimate experience, consider booking a walking safari with an expert guide to learn about the flora and fauna of the Okavango Delta. And what better way to unwind after a day of sightseeing than with a spa treatment followed by a delicious meal beneath the stars?

Day 4: Farewell Botswana

Get up early and go for one last game drive before breakfast. Then it is time to say goodbye and head for your flight back to Maun where your journey ends.
