Overview

This safari includes three of Kenya’s top private wildlife sites, which you may visit in a variety of ways. Your trip begins on the Laikipia Plateau, on the rim of Africa’s Rift Valley, where you explore big game area on foot with Samburu warriors for companionship and a camel train to transport luggage between camps. Then it’s on to Porini Rhino Camp, located in Laikipia’s famed Ol Pejeta Conservancy. On your game drives and guided walks, you may expect to view a variety of species, including East Africa’s biggest population of black rhinoceros.

A flight from Laikipia will transport you swiftly and easily to your final destination, the Masai Mara. The Mara, which is home to the seasonal Wildebeest Migration, is at its most spectacular between July and November. This reserve also has a fantastic reputation for year-round game watching, and your lodging, Porini Mara Camp, is a small and intimate tented camp located in the private Ol Kinyei wildlife conservancy, a successful local Maasai-run conservation programme.

This tour is great for tourists searching for a little different safari from the mainstream since it is adventurous, incredibly comfortable, and focuses on giving a unique wildlife and culture experience. Its beautiful accommodations and outstanding service standards make it ideal for honeymooners and busy couples.

Days 1-4: Exploring Laikipia on Foot | 3 Nights

KENYA Your journey begins at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, where you catch a short, scheduled flight to Nanyuki Airport. You'll be transported for roughly two hours to your tented camp, Tumaren, while seeing animals along the route. You settle down, have lunch, and go for a short walk with your guide to get a sense of the terrain - this is the Laikipia region, part of the high regions of the Great Rift Valley and a bustling area of private reserves and wildlife conservancies. You start your days early in order to capture the most fascinating creatures on the move before the heat of the day. When you walk with your Samburu guides, you notice more things than when you drive. You may spot stunning Grevy's zebra, giraffe, big cats, wild dog, and hyenas in the distance, as well as birds, insects, and medicinal plants up close, as your guides point out both the great and the little. Your tent will be waiting for you at the end of the day, carried on the back of a Samburu camel train. It is simple walking with plenty to see, and on the third day, you can look forward to an afternoon of swimming and fishing in the Ewaso Nyiro River, followed by an evening stroll to a picturesque site for sundowner beverages and breathtaking views of Mount Kenya.

Days 4-6: Discover the Land of the Rhino | 2 Nights

KENYA After breakfast, you will be transported to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Porini Rhino Camp, which are located in the slopes of Mount Kenya, near a beautiful seasonal stream. Spend your days on game drives with Maasai guides, following the Big 5 - Ol Pejeta is home to four of the world's last seven northern white rhinos. You will also have the opportunity to visit a chimp sanctuary and meet Baraka, Ol Pejeta's black rhino ambassador. After becoming completely blind and unable to survive in the wild, Baraka was rescued.

Days 6-9: | Masai Mara Magic | 3 Nights

KENYA, MASAI MARA After breakfast, you return to the airfield for your journey to Masai Mara. You are greeted and taken to the Ol Kinyei Conservancy and Porini Mara Camp, where you will spend three nights. This quiet and exclusive position, adjacent to the Masai Mara and on the path of the yearly Wildebeest Migration, offers outstanding game viewing - watch out for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, and the Mara's famed big cats - as well as very few other vehicles. Guides are permitted to drive off-road for close-up sightings, as well as conduct walking safaris and spot-lit night drives, all of which contribute to a total Masai Mara experience. You may go on game drives in the conservancy, but you can also go on a full-day safari in the Masai Mara, replete with a picnic lunch.
