Overview

This fantastic 10-day tour takes you to some of Tanzania’s top wildlife hotspots, including Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and the Serengeti. In these distant and pristine natural places, the journey’s focus is on conservation and community.

You’ll spend the first night at Tanzania’s largest coffee plantation before heading to Oliver’s Camp in Tarangire National Park. You will learn about lion conservation initiatives and spend your days on game drives and walking safaris, immersing yourself in Africa’s untamed wilds.

Then you’ll head to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you’ll be surrounded by luxury at The Highlands. The lodge is located on the outskirts of the mountain forest that borders the Olmoti volcano, and it is here that you will meet and interact with the Maasai tribe, one of the continent’s most famous tribes. The final stage of your journey will take you to Namiri Plains, a luxury tented camp in a region that was formerly restricted to restore cheetah numbers – you will see some of the greatest predator sightings in East Africa.

Day 1: Welcome to Tanzania! | 1 Night

ARUSHA, TANZANIA You will be taken to Arusha Coffee Lodge as you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport. The resort is located on Tanzania's largest coffee plantation and is an excellent place to begin a safari in Tanzania. Arusha Coffee Lodge, reminiscent of traditional plantation homes, is a refuge of scented calm and a pleasant respite after a lengthy international trip. There are vibrant gardens, a spa, boutiques, and a swimming pool to look forward to.

Day 2-3: Lion Conservation in Tarangire | 2 Nights

TARANGIRE, TANZANIA You will be taken to Oliver's Camp after a fantastic breakfast. Oliver's Camp is located in Tarangire National Park's remote south-eastern reaches. Overlooking a flood plain of the Tarangire River's Minyonyo Pools, the camp provides easy access to a thick concentration of animals. Walking safaris with enthusiastic guides, hot-air balloon rides over the plains, and leopard tracks along dusty roads await you at Oliver's Camp - it's the ideal safari experience. The Tarangire Lion Research Initiative (TLRI) will provide a presentation on this conservation and community-themed itinerary. To better understand the dynamics and prospects for lion conservation in the Tarangire-Manyara environment, the TRLI gathers data on ecology, demography, and human-lion interactions. In Tanzania's northern protected regions, this environment boasts the second biggest surviving lion population.

Day 4-6: Community Interactions & Luxury Tents | 3 Nights

NGORONGORO CRATER, TANZANIA After breakfast at Oliver's Camp, you will be driven to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in a private vehicle. The Highlands, nestled on the slopes of an extinct volcano (Olmoti) with a unique variety of high-tech tents, will be your home for the next three days. The camp feels lonely, although it is only a short drive from Ngorongoro, where you can go on extended game drives. Hike to the summit of Olmoti for breathtaking vistas, or take a half-day journey to Empakaai Crater's soda lake, where hundreds of pink flamingos congregate. You may also mingle with the locals, learn about Maasai culture, and return the cattle to the boma at the conclusion of the day.

Day 7-9: Serengeti Cheetah Conservation | 3 Nights

SERENGETI, TANZANIA A road transfer takes you to Namiri Plains Camp in Tanzania's famed Serengeti on the final stage of your conservation and community safari. Namiri Plains is located in a distant Eastern part that was originally secluded in order to provide a secure refuge for the cheetah population to develop. This is unquestionably big cat territory, and the camp is hidden away in a forest of fever trees. Spending an evening with a Serengeti Cheetah Research Project researcher, who monitors the demographics of between fifty and eighty cheetahs in the area, one of the last few remaining natural ecosystems where cheetahs exist in viable numbers, is one of the many highlights of your stay at Namiri Plains Camp. You will not only be able to view and learn about cheetahs in the Serengeti, but also lions, wildebeest herds, and other animals on game drives or even from the comfort of your own luxury hotel - this is untamed Africa.
