KENYA You will be taken to Loldia House, which is located on the banks of Lake Naivasha. Spend the afternoon at Loldia House resting. Naivasha is bordered by acacia woodlands, which include the characteristic yellow-green fever tree. They are teeming with birds, and the lake is a world-class birding destination. There is also giraffe, buffalo, monkeys, and a significant hippo population. Wild animals walk freely on the farm, and you may glimpse a hippo or two scuffling and wallowing in the lake, or devouring its meal by the lakeside, as you dine. You will also have a thrilling trip to Lake Nakuru National Park, which is home to one of the world's most spectacular bird spectacles: up to two million fuchsia flamingos carpeting the alkaline water of the soda lake. A variety of water birds and other animals may be seen on the game drive near Nakuru. The park is one of Kenya's rhino sanctuaries, with a high population of these coveted animals. Keep an eye out for leopards, hippos, Rothschild's giraffes, buffalo, and eland.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Loldia airport for your flight to the Mara on a Governors Aviation jet. It is a short flight that provides views of the rich terrain. A game drive to camp for lunch and a refreshing cold drink is your first experience of the reserve. The magnificent Governors' Camp, long the property of Kenya's colonial governors, will be your home for the next three nights. Each of the en-suite tents offers a wonderful view from its deck, with some overlooking the grasslands and others overlooking the flowing Mara River and its copious waters. Enjoy the companionship of the native warthog family, which roams freely through the camp, and keep an eye out for the elephants, who are known to arrive during lunch. On day four, wake up to something extra-special: an optional hot-air balloon adventure. You go off for the natural launch point at Little Governors' Camp while it is still dark. Follow the glow of the burners as the crew prepares for takeoff. Then, as the balloon fills and rises, you are lifted into the air in the safe basket below.
